Welcome to The Trail of Painted Ponies

Figurines                            Large Figurines

Are you a horse lover, or do you know one? If you are, The Trail of the Painted Ponies is the collectible for you. Be careful in starting your new collection, The Trail has a way of taking a hold of you and not letting go!!

The Trail of Painted Ponies Figurines are bringing the art and the collectible worlds together. Each figurine is inspired by an original Painted Pony and has been crafted with exquisite attention to detail. As such, each figurine has an authenticity that makes it a miniature work of art in its own right.

The Trail of Painted Ponies standard-size figurines are cast in either ceramic or resin and stand approximately 6 " in height. New Painted Ponies are crafted every six months, and at least twice a year, a certain number of figurines are "retired." Each beautiful Painted Pony is sequentially numbered and is accompanied by a "story tag" which tells the tale of the Pony, and provides information about the artist.

Timeline of The Trail

The Trail began in Santa Fe in 2001 as a popular public art exhibition that invited the very best artists in the Southwest to magically transform life-size horses into glorious works of art. These stunningly original artworks enchanted thousands of people and at auction generated close to $1 million dollars for philanthropic organizations.

The first herd of Painted Pony figurines which were modeled after the life size Painted Ponies was released in January, 2003. Painted Ponies have now become the #1 collectible in the United States, and are now becoming available worldwide. Each pony is unique and has its own individual story.

Since that time The Trail of Painted Ponies has expanded, putting on special art exhibitions in other states, involving artists from around the country in the creation of one-of-a-kind horse sculptures, and producing a special collectors edition of Painted Pony reproductions inspired by the original works of art from The Trail of Painted Ponies.

2001: The Trail of Painted Ponies is created by Rod Barker, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The very best artists in the Southwest are invited to transform large horse sculptures into incredible works of art. Over 120 life-size horses are magically painted and sculpted into glorious artworks. These exhibitions win national acclaim, increase tourism and revenues to New Mexico, and generate close to $600,000.00 for philanthropic organizations..

2002: A national licensing agreement is signed with King Features. Westland Giftware begins crafting figurines. The Trail of Painted Ponies continues to receive national media attention. Over $200,000.00 additional monies are generated for various charities. More distinguished artists join "The Trail".

2003: The award-winning documentary film, The Trail of Painted Ponies, narrated by Ali McGraw, debuts on Public Television. The Golden Web Award is presented to www.trailofpaintedponies.com, for outstanding design and content. The world headquarters for The Trail of Painted Ponies moves to Scottsdale, Arizona. Exhibitions of life-size Painted Ponies at The Dodge Theatre, The Camelback Inn, The JW Marriott Resort, The Parada del Sol and The Arizona State Capitol mark the arrival of the Painted Ponies in Arizona.

2004: The Trail of Painted Ponies becomes one of the hottest selling collectibles in America, with retail sales over 10 million dollars. The best selling book enters its 3rd printing, with over 70,000 copies in circulation. Exceptional artists continue to join "The Trail", as The Trail of Painted Ponies is acclaimed in the media as a "New American Art Movement."
